The people

The people who will be on your roof

Five of us, all employees, most of us here for a decade or more. If you have called us more than twice you have spoken to Yvette, and if we have quoted you a replacement, Arjun measured it.

Frank Delaney, Founder and master roofer at Woodside Roofing Services

Frank Delaney

Founder and master roofer

Licensed home improvement contractor · with us since 1994

Frank started laying shingles on Queens row houses in the early eighties and put his own name on a truck in 1994. He still climbs, still writes the difficult estimates himself, and is the person who decides when a roof genuinely cannot be repaired any longer.

Arjun Sethi, Estimator and project planner at Woodside Roofing Services

Arjun Sethi

Estimator and project planner

Estimating and building surveying · with us since 2009

Arjun measures, surveys and prices every job that is not an emergency. He is the reason our quotes say what happens if the decking underneath turns out to be rotten, instead of leaving it as a conversation for the day the roof is already open.

Hector Ramos, Field foreman at Woodside Roofing Services

Hector Ramos

Field foreman

Foreman, fall-protection and rigging trained · with us since 2004

Hector runs the installation crews. He sets out every roof before the first bundle goes up, holds the line on flashing details that a faster crew would skip, and is the last person to walk a finished roof before we call it done.

Nadia Kowalczyk, Service and leak specialist at Woodside Roofing Services

Nadia Kowalczyk

Service and leak specialist

Leak diagnosis and moisture surveying · with us since 2016

Nadia handles the calls that start with a stain on a ceiling. She is unusually good at the part everyone else finds tedious — proving where water actually enters, rather than sealing the nearest plausible thing and hoping.

Yvette Charles, Office manager and client care at Woodside Roofing Services

Yvette Charles

Office manager and client care

Client care and contract administration · with us since 2011

Yvette answers the phone, schedules the crews, chases the certificates of insurance and keeps the photographs and reports where a managing agent can find them. If you have spoken to us more than twice, you have spoken to Yvette.

Why it is the same faces

Crews, not a labour broker

A great deal of roofing in this city is done by crews assembled that morning by somebody who has never seen the building. It is cheaper, and it is why so much roofing work has to be done twice.

Our roofers are employees. They are paid for the day rather than by the job, which removes the incentive to rush a flashing detail, and they have worked together long enough that Hector does not have to explain how we do things every Monday.

  • Everyone on your roof is on our payroll and covered by our workers' compensation.
  • Paid by the day, so nobody is financially rewarded for cutting a corner you cannot see.
  • The same foreman from set-out to final walk, on every job.
  • Seven languages between the office and the crews.
