Questions

Roofing questions we are asked most

Ten answers to the things people actually ring up and ask, written the way we would answer them on the phone rather than the way a brochure would.

How much does a new roof cost in Woodside?

For a typical Woodside row house or small two-family, an architectural shingle replacement usually lands between $9,000 and $18,000, and a flat roof recover between $7,500 and $16,000, depending on area, how many layers have to come off, and what the decking looks like underneath. /pricing.html sets out the real ranges by roof type and the things that genuinely move the number.

How quickly can you look at a leak?

A leak call placed on a weekday morning is almost always seen the same day. If water is actively coming into a living space we treat it as an emergency, come out around the clock, and make it safe with a tarp before we talk about what the permanent repair costs.

Do I need a full replacement, or can this be repaired?

Most roofs that people assume are finished are repairable, and we will say so — a repair that buys you five more years is a perfectly good outcome. What genuinely ends a roof is widespread granule loss, brittle shingles that crack when lifted, a deck that flexes underfoot, or a third layer that the code will not let anyone build on.

How long does a roof take?

A straightforward row-house shingle replacement is usually one to two days. A flat roof of similar size is two to three. Slate, copper and anything with significant carpentry or a complicated parapet runs longer, and the written scope always gives you a duration rather than a vague answer.

Do you pull permits?

Where the work requires a permit and an inspection we file for it and see it through to sign-off. Repairs and like-for-like re-covering often do not require one; a structural change, a change of roof type, or work on certain building classes does. Arjun will tell you which category your job falls into before you sign anything.

Will you work with my insurance company?

Yes. For storm and wind damage we document the roof properly at the time of loss — dated photographs, a written scope and measurements — which is what makes a claim straightforward. We do not, however, advise you on your policy or negotiate a settlement on your behalf; that is your adjuster's and your broker's job. /insurance-claims.html explains where the line sits.

What warranty comes with the work?

Full replacements carry a written workmanship warranty from us, on top of whatever the manufacturer covers on the material itself. Repairs carry a shorter workmanship warranty on the repaired area specifically. Both are given to you as documents at the end of the job.

Do you do emergency work at night and at weekends?

Yes, around the clock, every day of the year. The emergency line is answered by a person. In a storm we prioritise water actively entering a living space and anything structurally unsafe, and we will tell you honestly where you are in the queue rather than guessing at a time.

Can you work on a building where I am the managing agent, not the owner?

Routinely. We keep certificates of insurance on file, name additional insureds where a building requires it, schedule around tenants and trading hours, and report with photographs against every invoice so you can pass the paperwork upward without rewriting it.

What areas do you cover?

Woodside first, then the rest of western Queens — Sunnyside, Jackson Heights, Elmhurst, Astoria, Long Island City, Maspeth, Corona, Rego Park, Forest Hills, Middle Village, Ridgewood and Glendale — with commercial work across the wider borough, Brooklyn and Manhattan. /service-areas.html has the full list with ZIP codes.
